For this collection, Todd Blackiston interviewed several people to ask them how and what has changed in the world of business, putting a special emphasis on the place of women in business. His paper analyzes the different aspects that helped change the business world. This package also contains the interview cards used during the fieldwork.

She interviewed and filmed her coworkers. Among other things, she inquired about their feelings about customers'perception of them and how they cope with those stereotypes. Folklife Collection - The Occupational Folklore of an Ocean City Timeshare Salesman

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1991, Salisbury University students and teachers collected folk life material. For this project Frank W. Nanna chose to tell his own story as a timeshare salesman in Ocean City, Maryland. Captivating, his paper chronicles his success in this "scammy" business. The paper describes the harsh working conditions and the lavish lifestyle of these salesmen, explains the jargon and deceptive sales techniques used. Frank thrived and made it to the top 1% of all timeshare salesmen in the country. Ultimately, he too got caught up into the vicious cycle and run out of money. Back to college, he "has never been happier."

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1993, Salisbury University students and teachers collected folk life material. For this project, Trisha M. Vellines decided to focus on occupational folklore, more specifically on office culture. Her fieldwork consisted of a trip at the offices of her mother and father, who were her main informants. She collected a great deal of folk material such as jokes, quotes, notices and cartoons (copies enclosed).

Folklife Collection - Xerographic Office Folklore

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1993, Salisbury University students and teachers collected folk life material. For this project, Donna L. Hill investigated the xerox folklore of workplaces. She collected samples of xerox office folklore several informants (family members), which helped her analyse the characteristics of this particular folk group. She noticed that office workers, both from Maryland and Ohio, collected the same type of lore (common themes, humorous images, sarcastic tone) but sometimes it would be tweaked so as to fit the particular workplace. Samples of these xeroxed sheets are enclosed in this package.
